imitating the dog commissioned for Selby Light 2026

A brand new installation celebrating our different stories and the unified feeling of finding home.

Created for Selby Light 2026, this new artwork reimagines the stories of the diverse communities of Selby to tell a huge human tale of imagination, belief and personal history that sparks off from one very simple question: How Did You Get Here?

Featuring characters inspired by local residents, this joyous story will be spectacularly projected onto the front of the 955-year-old Selby Abbey. Continue inside for a breathtaking walk-through, where the characters come to life in unexpected and imaginative ways, soundtracked by an original music score.

Part The Canterbury Tales, part We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, this is a celebration of Selby, and what it is to call it home, BY the community, FOR the community.
