Jerwood Developing Artists Fund: Immersive Assembly Vol 3

We are delighted to announce that we have received funding from the Jerwood Developing Artists Fund for the third iteration of Immersive Assembly (IA3), our multidisciplinary, hybrid artists residency programme which brings together an international cohort of artists and technologists to learn, share, network and play.

Jerwood Arts is the leading independent funder dedicated to supporting early-career UK artists, curators and producers to develop and thrive. The Jerwood Developing Artists Fund is a dedicated fund from Jerwood Arts to support arts organisations to deliver transformative early-career artist development programmes across the UK.

Immersive Assembly Vol.1 launched in 2021. Nine emerging practitioners from Argentina, China, Ghana, Mexico, United Kingdom and Zimbabwe were supported in the development of new ideas for immersive experiences themed around rituals, alongside a series of sessions from leading UK digital artists including art collective Marshmallow Laser Feast, artist and film-maker Kit Monkman, and Alexa Pollmann, director of performance design collective
Peut-Porter.

Immersive Assembly Vol.2 in 2022 was dedicated to developing a cultural partnership between York and our fellow UNESCO City of Media Arts, Viborg. This hybrid residency brought together UK and Danish artists/studios with prototype projects showcased at Viborg Animation Festival 2022.

“Mediale are exceptional specialists in the art of digital and immersive tech and we are thrilled to be funding IA3. Support for early-career artists to get their hands on the latest kit and have the time and space to play and collaborate, with national and international partners, is critical for artistic innovation to thrive.”
