Live music in York

York is already a city brimming with emerging bands, artists and independent promoters, all who work tirelessly throughout the year to support live music in the city.

So far we have been privileged to work with a number of these; from collaborating with clubnight curiosity, Ouroboros, to bring the Just Jam extravaganza with Kamaal Williams and Moses Boyd to York Theatre Royal and the fully fledged clubs sounds of Joy Orbison and Pearson Sound to The Crescent Community Venue, right through to our most recent collaboration with Wildfowl Sounds, where we presented The Buster Keaton Picture Show with live score from Haiku Salut at the Everyman Cinema.

Working collaboratively with the city’s creative community remains a key driving force behind York Mediale and we hope to develop even more of these partnerships as we develop our 2020 programme.

We always focus on bringing great music to York, otherwise we wouldn’t be here. The partnership with York Mediale has empowered us to go even further with that.

With Ciani, Dillon, Pearson Sound, Joy O, Just Jam hosting Moses Boyd and Kamaal Williams and Skinny Pelembe in the line-up, York Mediale 2018 had a truly diverse programme of experimental, electro and jazz-inspired music, presented in interesting and unexpected spaces across the city. It was epic!
