Participants were invited to network, collaborate and play as AWDC shared the latest prototype of their Otmo software – a compositional tool for motion capture content. Through three versions of the software (desktop, live and VR), the participants explored the creative possibilities that can occur when dance and digital technologies collide.
Otmo is a user-friendly and accessible tool for being creative with motion capture content, enabling non-specialists to position, modify, sequence and share recordings of human movement in a 3D virtual environment.
It unlocks a new realm of creative possibilities for industries, professionals and students interested in bringing human movement into digital spaces.

The weekend also included a masterclass for 16-25 year olds, which engaged students from Selby, Leeds and Hull.
Following the masterclass, participants were invited to join our Q&A panel discussion, which covered interdisciplinary artistic practice and the value of digital creativity.
Delivered as part of Mediale’s Selby Creates initiative, this weekend built upon the success of previous workshops delivered with AWDC as part of Selby Creates 2023, and a network of digitally-engaged creative practitioners is forming based around their experiences in Selby.
Experimenting with this prototype software has opened doors to an incredible journey into digital dance. Here’s to pushing new boundaries, evolving my art practice and starting exciting new collaborations. I loved every minute and I’m energised to learn more!
