Mediale and SUPERRADIANCE announce new creative partnership
Mediale, the North Yorkshire based arts organisation known for commissioning bold, high‑quality digital art, is delighted to announce a new creative partnership with Memo Akten and Katie Hofstadter, aka SUPERRADIANCE Center for Entangled Intelligence & Planetary Consciousness. Together, the two organisations will embark on a collaborative programme of work designed to develop new artistic opportunities and advance research‑based practice.

This partnership marks an exciting new chapter for both organisations. Mediale has grown from its origins delivering the award winning York Mediale Festival into an internationally connected commissioner of ambitious digital art, bringing together artists, technologists and communities to imagine new futures. Superradiance join a growing roster of associate artists working over the long term with the team at Mediale.
The collaborative research methods and practice of Superradiance (Memo Akten and Katie Hofstadter) explores how emerging technologies (particularly AI and machine learning) interact with the embodied, emotional, and ecological dimensions of human experience.
“This partnership brings us together with two of the most visionary artists working today who share a deep commitment to experimentation, care and long‑term thinking,” said Mediale. “Superradiance’s research‑driven approach aligns powerfully with our mission to support artists working with technology in ways that are imaginative, critical and deeply human. Together, we can create the conditions for new forms of digital art to emerge and flourish.”

Memo and Katie added, “We see this collaboration as a way to expand the field of entangled intelligence through artistic practice. Mediale’s experience commissioning and producing digital work makes them an ideal partner for exploring how embodied experience, planetary consciousness and emerging technologies can be brought into dialogue.”

The partnership will begin with a period of shared research and opportunity development, including artist conversations, proposal shaping and the co‑design of new frameworks for commissioning. Both organisations are committed to working in a way that is collaborative, equitable and responsive- ensuring that artists and partner organisations are supported to take creative risks and explore new modes of making.
Further announcements about artist opportunities and programme activity will follow later this year.
