A free outdoor film screening taking place on Clifford’s Tower, The Eye Project is part of 2019’s Castle Gateway community consultations. The result is an exciting new short film, made by the local community.
This film has been created by four different local artists, remembering the history of the Castle Gateway area, whilst celebrating its future possibilities.
Artists, Rich Corrigan, Jade Blood, Julia Davis Nosko and Mat Lazenby worked with hundreds of York’s young people to explore the ways we can shape and influence the future of Castle Gateway through a major development of the site.
The Eye Project is overseen by Kaizen Arts and English Heritage and will be shown from Castle Car Park between 17:30 – 21:00 on Saturday 25 January, as part of York Residents Festival. There will also be an opportunity for members of the public to have a say about the future of area during the screening.
Castle Car Park will be closed on 25 January for the event.

Getting around on residents weekend

With Park & Ride services running from six different sites around the city, it’s the low-cost, hassle-free way to travel into York city centre for Residents’ Weekend.

Park free of charge in secure car parks, pay on the bus and relax! You don’t even need to have cash with you as all buses are equipped to take contactless payments.
Fares are low, with up to three children aged 16 or under travelling free when accompanied by a paying adult and discounts available for regular Park & Ride users.

There’s even a special residents weekend offer on all First York buses which can see up to five people travel for £5 per day. This offer is only available through the First mobile app – just search First York in your phone’s app store to find it.
