Rosie Gibbens

Rosie Gibbens is an interdisciplinary artist exploring the absurdity of contemporary life. She makes performances, videos and sculptures focusing on gender performativity, consumerist culture, and their overlaps. With her own bodily experience at the centre of her work, Gibbens describes imagining herself as an ‘alien visitor trying to participate seamlessly in contemporary life, but not quite managing.’

Rosie often devises and leads workshops for families and young people. She has run workshops and courses for institutions including Whitechapel Gallery, Tate, University of the Arts London and ACAVA.She graduated with an MA in Contemporary Art Practice at the Royal College of Art (2018) and a BA in Performance Design and Practice at Central Saint Martins (2015).
