Accessible Arts gets digital makeover
A local charity that organises summer workshops for young disabled people is set to receive a digital boost from York Mediale this year, with a series of three workshops creating digital artworks – including dance, music and film – which will be shown in the autumn during the new media arts festival.
The first of the three sessions, which will be led by Paul Fothergill at York Explore, gives participants the opportunity to not only make digital music, but also play with circuits, sound effects and synthesizers, and by the end of this session, we’ll have the soundtrack for the final production.
“Partnering with York Mediale on this year’s workshops will add a different and innovative element, and the work produced will then form part of a showcase during York Mediale itself.”

It is so important to us that York Mediale has a legacy beyond this year’s festival, and these sessions will give young people of all ages and abilities a taste of how they can use technology to create wonderful works of art – from music to film and animation.
In total, around 60 young people are expected to take part in the workshops.
