Absent Sitters Application

The Absent Sitters project has been in research and development over the course of this year, and in late October, as part of Mediale 2020, we are launching the first stage of our experiment. 

We are now looking for 100 open-minded people to form the audience. 

The experience, which is 20 minutes long,  will feature the first summoning of a live audio-visual creation from Gazelle Twin, Kit Monkman and University of York Music Dept’s Dr Jez Wells and Ben Eyes. In taking part in this experimental performance, you will also help shape and define its next stages as your thoughts, feelings and responses will be integral to its future path.

The performances will take place over 20 different sessions (of which you will be required to ‘sit’ on just one!)  across five nights from 21st to the 25th of October. 

We will gather your feedback, post performance, through email or via telephone/video call.

Before the performance 

In order to take part you will need to have access to the following:

• A dark room
• A stable broadband connection 
• A good quality pair of stereo headphones
• A laptop or deskto
• Capable of running Zoom version 5.2.3
• Be free to join a  pre- meeting with one of the Mediale team between Thursday 15th October and Tuesday 20th October
• Be free to join one experience between 7.30pm and midnight (UK time) during 21st – 25th Oct
